How to Keep a Symptom Log
Everyone tells you to keep a record. Almost nobody tells you what to put in it. These free guides cover the mechanics: what belongs in an entry, how often to log, and what to hand a service officer. No sign-up, and useful whether or not you ever install the app.
Already using it?
Support covers backups, moving to a new phone, getting your records out, and what to do when something breaks. It also carries the Veterans Crisis Line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Doc Bear's Symptom Vault free?
Yes. Symptom Vault is free to use with no ads, no subscriptions, and no paid tiers. Every feature is available to every user.
Where is my health data stored?
Your health data is stored locally by the app. Symptom Vault does not upload your health information to a cloud server, Doc Bear Enterprises never receives it, and there is no account to create. You control your data, and you can export or delete it at any time.
Does Symptom Vault file my VA disability claim for me?
No. Symptom Vault is a personal documentation tool. It helps you record and organize your symptoms, medications, and measurements over time, and export that record as a formatted PDF. Filing a claim is done through the VA, and a VA-accredited representative, Veterans Service Organization, or claims agent can assist you with the filing itself.
Do I have to be a veteran to use Symptom Vault?
No. While many features are built specifically around VA disability claims, the core symptom, medication, and measurement tracking works for anyone managing a chronic condition, and for caregivers tracking health on behalf of a family member.
Can I track health for more than one person?
Yes. Symptom Vault supports multiple profiles on a single device, so caregivers can maintain separate records for each family member.
Can I get my records out of the app?
Yes. You can export a VA Claim Package PDF formatted for C&P examiners, export raw data as CSV, and create a full Data Bunker backup that can be restored to another device. Blue Button Smart Import also brings existing VA health records into the app.
What platforms does Symptom Vault run on?
Symptom Vault is available on the web, on Android through Google Play, and on iOS through the Apple App Store.
