From the Marines to the Kitchen to the Cloud

Dr. Edward McKeown was born in Mexico, Missouri and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. With over 30 years of experience spanning hospitality, food safety, management, and technology, he founded Doc Bear Enterprises to build software for problems he had run into himself.

His career has taken him through some of the most demanding environments in the food service and hospitality industries — from Waffle House and Burger King to Hilton Hotels, The Flamingo Hotel and Casino, and Popeye's Chicken. That hands-on experience shapes every product Doc Bear Enterprises builds.

Founded in 2018, Doc Bear Enterprises builds software for veterans documenting symptoms and VA disability claims, home cooks planning meals and tracking what is already in the kitchen, and military families looking for the businesses that support them. Comfort Kitchen uses AI for meal planning and is available and supported in over 80 countries. Symptom Vault deliberately uses none: no cloud sync, no account, no AI, and we never receive your data.
